What is the 'Project Akashteer' ?

'Project Akashteer' is an initiative of government of India to procure 'Automated Air Defence Control and Reporting System' for Indian Navy under the contract signed with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Ghaziabad in March 2023. This Rs. 1982 Cr. initiative is expected to boost the 'Aatmanirbhar' Bharat Abhiyan. 
    It will enhance manufacturing of indigenous state-of-the-art capability of the Indian Army, which can effectively operate in an integrated manner. Akashteer will enable monitoring of low level airspace over the battle of Indian Army and effectively control the Ground Based Air Defence Weapon System.
