 Cyclone 'Biparjoy'

  • According to Indian Meteorological Department of India, Cyclone, named 'Biparjoy' has intensified as very severe cyclone in the Arabian sea around 850 km to the west of Goa.
  • The cyclone is expected to move northwards and turn to Oman.
  • This will help in onset of monsoon in Kerala in next 48 hours. 
  • Who named the cyclone Biparjoy?
    • Bangladesh.

Gruha Lakshmi Scheme

  • Gruha Lakshmi is the scheme of Karnatak government.
  • Features :
    • beneficiaries are paid Rs. 2000 per month.
  • Eligibility:- 
    • women who were already enrolled as Yajamani (head of the family) in Antyodaya Anna Yojana, BPL and APL ration cards are eligible for this scheme.
 
 
 Himachal Pradesh to establish IPFB
  • IPFB stands for Investment Promotion and Facilitation Bureau.
  • Himachal Pradesh govt. has taken this initiative to attract crucial investments in the state. 
  • This will increase employment opportunities for youth, besides increasing revenue.

  • Kakhovka dam was a run-of-river power plant from 1955 until 2023 on the Dnieper Rive in Ukraine. 
  • This is the last and 6th dam on the Dnieper river.

    •  Kakhovka dam was destroyed on June 6, 2023 in Ukraine-Raussia war.
 
RBI accounts for the reasons of inflation hikes 
  • According to The Reserve Bank of India, the factors that increasing inflation in India are as follows:-
    1. Russia-Ukraine war- This triggered significant price rise in food and energy, and caused disruptions in the supply chain in 2022.
    2. Global commodity price change - this resulted in consumer price inflation in both advanced and emerging economies.
    3. Heatwaves - it increases the costs of farming inputs, which in turn, increases food and beverage inflation.
    4. High domestic LPG and kerosene prices - due to this, inflation remained double digit in petroleum products.

What is IUSSTD ?
Answer:- IUSSTD stands for India-U.S. Strategic Trade Dialogue. It focusses on ways in which both India and U.S. governments can facilitate the development and trade of technologies in critical domains such as semiconductors, space, telecom, quantum, AI, defence, bio-tech and others. Both the countries will review the relevant bilateral export control regulations with the objective of building and diversifying resilient supply chains for these strategic technologies.

About The Licchavi Kingdom The Lichchavis were the most powerful of the eight clans of Vajji janapad . Their capital was at Vaishali (Bihar).  They were an Indo-Aryan tribe who conquered the territory of the Maha-Videha kingdom and temporarily occupied the Videha capital of Mithila . Given to rising power of Magadha empire , Lichchavis established their republic in the southern part of Maha-Videha kingdom until the marginal location of Vaishali , which was their largest city and capital. To the south of Vaishali was situated the kingdom of Magadha with which relations of Vaishali were initially good.  The Gupta Empire (319 AD - 540 AD) Gupta empire emerged on the ruins of the Kushan kingdom.  The empire orginated in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and expanded in almost whole India excluding interior south and Kashmir.  Prayag was the nerve centre of their administration.  They were originally Vaishyas .
